Conservation of Sang Dak Bungalow and Development of Tourist Facilities at Sang
Project Location: Sang, East Sikkim
Project Architect: Sonam T. Tashi
Status: Project Proposal
The charming Sang Dak Bungalow which is more than 100 years old is placed in the midst of verdant forest cover and is encircled by the goodness of gorgeous mountains, which makes it an idyllic sanctuary for spending some relaxing and tranquil moments with your loved ones. The bungalow flaunts a classic imperial styled architecture. The spacious bungalow is smeared with greenery all-over with a beautiful hand carved and painted mendang on stone right at the entrance of the bungalow.
Aim of the project is to develop, design and implement a restoration plan of the Sang Dak Bungalow & create a co-working space for local entrepreneurs and start-ups. To establish the same & make it economically supportive facilities like Cafetaria, coffee Kiosk, Amphitheater & resting gazebos along the walking trail are also proposed. Existing boundary of the site is also planned to be restored looking at its characteristic design using huge colorful engraved stones. To avoid shabby car parking a raised platform with cycle parking shed & an organically shaped seating with intermediate planters is designed.
