Sikkim's Helicopter service offering the discerning tourists a 15 minute ride from Bagdogra to Sikkim has been serving well the over past few years. But over time, due to natural calamities like earthquake, the structures of the helipad service like the admin. block, the hanger, etc. has been going through a downfall. The dilapidated condition of the structures has led the State Govt. into deciding that there is a need for the redevelopment of Helipad.

Hence, we have come up with a proposal for the Redevelopment of Helipad. It consists of firstly solving the existing issues at hand like drainage and water clogging issues, lacking amenities, improper planning of spaces giving way to a lot of wastage of space, leaking roofs, etc.

We have proposed an entry driveway with overall beautification and landscaping, hard paving the parking area and giving provision to advertisement banners at the boundary walls. Secondly, proper planning of the spaces both interior and exterior has led to proper circulation of passengers: the leisure riders and the tourists. Arrival and departure routes have been segregated so that there is no overcrowding of spaces. We have a toilet block on the exterior, a small mart/souvenir shop, open seating areas and a cafeteria on the first floor. The Pawan Hans office and the STDC office has been properly planned with their amenities planned at hand. Proper guard booths at two points have been allocated and the staff quarter has also been provisioned to go through a renovation.
